Arrive at Raipur Swami Vivekananda Airport (IATA: RPR, ICAO: VARP), meet the representative of the tour providers and get a drive for 120 km to reach Kawardha, the princely state. Check-in to the palace suite and have lunch at the state dining room. In the afternoon, embark on a tour to watch the major portions of the palace and the nearby cultural sightseeing including the awe-inspiring Bhoramdeo temple complex. Return to the palace and watch the beautiful sunset followed by a welcome drink and meet the royal family. Enjoy the Chhattisgarhi dance entertainment and then have dinner.
After breakfast, the palace guide will accompany you and will be introduced to the secrets of Kawardha’s little-known natural and tribal world. Interact with the gentle Baiga people, they are from the major tribal community living in the deep forest areas. Enjoy a picnic lunch with them. Return to Palace Kawardha and enjoy a family dinner.
Have breakfast and spend the morning at complete leisure. Take a 2 hour drive to Raipur. Have lunch at a fine restaurant in the city. Happily take a short visit to Raipur’s Mahant Ghasidas Museum before leaving for the former princely State of Kanker. On your arrival at Kanker Palace, the Maharaja’s family will greet you and show you to your suite. Have some drinks and then dinner, meet and interact with the royal family members who will explain the folklore and the traditions of the state. Watch and enjoy a performance of the traditional music and dance of the region.
Post breakfast at the palace, head out to experience the tribal life of Bastar. It is in the south of Kanker, indulge in the tour with your guide. Climb the forested Keshkal Ghat which marks the border of Bastar 500m above the plain. Watch the special characteristics of the North Bastar with a visit to a colorful weekly market. Meet the local people and then move to visit Kondagaon and Narayanpur to discover some of Bastar’s finest handicrafts, and the people who make them. Have lunch in the deep green sal forests. Later, return to Kanker and stay overnight there.
After breakfast, travel in royal luxury to Jagdalpur, Bastar’s main town and former capital, three hours away. Check- in to a comfortable local hotel, have lunch and relax. Post this, be a part of a royally guided tour of historical Jagdalpur and the Anthropological Museum is completed by a sunset idyll at the Chitrakote waterfall, Bastar’s very own ‘Nigara’ on the Indravati River. Also visit some of the local Bison-Horn Maria tribe, renowned for their spectacular ceremonial dancing. If conditions are permitting, a barbecue is served under the stars in authentic Bastar style. Afterwards, enjoy a performance of the tribal people, before returning to your hotel.
Have an early breakfast and then head out to visit the rich forests of the Kanger Valley National Park, the enchanting Tirathgarh waterfall and the breathtaking stalactite and stalagmite caves. Kanger will offer you the best time for picnic in the natural habitat of leopard, tiger, sambhar, bison and the Bastar Hill Myna. Explore some of Jagdalpur’s unique handicrafts and return to your hotel to have dinner.
Enjoy breakfast before you head out to visit the crowded markets of Jagdalpur. On the highway, you will come across some of the captivating handicrafts shops, buy some souvenirs from there. Have lunch at Kanker and then start the journey to Raipur. It will take around 2 hours to reach Raipur. Stay at the comfortable and well-appointed hotel, relax in the pool, and enjoy dinner later.
Have a healthy breakfast and depart from Swami Vivekananda International Airport (IATA: RPR, ICAO: VARP)/Railway Station Raipur. The tour ends here.
